RSA720 USB HUB doesnt work

I reset the RSA 720 using the button next to the USB/SFP switch. Ive done it a few times. Ive turned all the electronics on in every conceivable order you can think of. I bought a new cable even and nothing. So, I have sent it back. Is there another USB hub that does the same thing? Anyway… 2 days of headache is now gone.
Paqua

Not that I know of that support audio out for DAC support.

I was really looking forward to this HUB. Ahh well

Before you give up see if Hfi Rose fixes your issue with the next software update, could be as easy as that.

HUB is already enroute back to vendor. HiFi Rose didnt bother to speak up at all on this thread. They dont seem interested at all

Where did you purchase it? Did they attempt to help you?

I spoke to them. They admitted they havent used one of them before. So they had no real input other than what the instructions says. The Music Room was the distributor. They were as helpful as they could be
and sent me an RMA and shipping label as soon as I asked. I was all in with this HUB …it looks amazing but it is poorly implemented. The fact that most have nothing but trouble with it is proof. Maybe in the future if they decide to address it and patch the RS130 I may go for it again. But Ive exhausted all ideas and possibilities. I have HoloAudio Spring 3 KTE DAC. It’s not cheap by any stretch. The RS130 sees it fine when I use USB. Even works with I2S.

Is there a switch to turn the device off or do you have unplug it? I guess there is no standby function then?

No switch to turn off. Yes you need to unplug to power off. There could be an auto standby mode but unknown as there is no documentation that details that feature. @ROSEHAN or @ROSELOA can you comment and also discuss why other users are facing challenges. Is HIFI Rose seeing these issues themselves? Is this a hardware issue or software issue. Your input and customer support is needed.

I believe I2S is the way to go with that particular DAC. That way you could also benefit from the excellent clock in RS130

@duffer5
Which DAC do you have?

Audio-GD R7HEMk3 R2RDAC

Only issue I find with I2s is that if the sample rate changes say 44.1 to 192 there is a click at the start of the song.

I have this issue with the i2s connection and the RS130. This should not happen. I think it has something to do with the way the RS130 uses the ssd cache. I have attempted to troubleshoot this issue directly with Hifi Rose but I have received no responses from @ROSEHAN or @ROSELOA. Since I first reported the issue with the clicks and i2s with the RS130 many others have reported the same concern like yourself but I am at a loss on how to resolve without the support of Hifi Rose.

Support seems to be MIA after the first of the year

Which DAC are you using?

Holoaudio Spring 3 Kitsune

Oh that’s right, I recall you have posted that in the past. I can’t explain why this issue is happening, it happens with a variety of DACs and some DACS not at all. Very strange.

Ya, I was really looking forward to using this device. Just wasnt meant to be

Hi,

my distributor wrote me:

The hub is a little demanding when it comes to connecting the components. Let’s proceed in order.

0.) Disconnect all devices from the power supply (RSA720, RS130 and DAC), for the RS130 it is essential to disconnect the power cable

  1. The SFP module (whether red or blue) belongs in the “USB 3.0 FIBER” slot on the RS130
  2. The RSA720 must be switched to SFP on the side and connected to the RS130 via optical cable
  3. Connect the DAC to one of the USB 2.0 ports of the RSA720
  4. Connect the RSA780 to the other USB 2.0 port of the RSA720
  5. Insert the USB stick into one of the USB 3.0 ports
  6. Switch on the DAC
  7. Supply the RSA720 with power
  8. THEN FIRST reconnect the RS130 to the power cable and switch it on in the top right-hand corner

9.) Wait approx. 1 minute until everything has found itself

Then everything works as it should, at least in our test environment.

Important: the RSA720 does not support hot-plugging of the USB ports. Therefore, if the connected devices change, the RS130 must be restarted.

My situation now:

After the RS130 was “de-energized”, I needed several attempts again to see the DAC in the RS130 at least…
Only from standby does the RS130 seem to find the devices connected to the RSA720 quickly…! After a shutdown that is a disaster…

Unfortunately, the result is the same behavior before. Even without the RSA780 CD, the DAC cannot be used with the RSA720. RS130 and ROON recognize the device, but the USB 2.0 output stops immediately without sound after the screen of the RS130 switches to the content.

Without the RSA720, everything is fine. The RSA780 is immediately recognized by the RS130, DAC is immediately recognized by the RS130/ROON and everything is 100%. SQ is excellent!

Apparently I’m in good company when I read the reports in the ROSE community.
At least kte may Dac’s are also affected… In my case it’s a combination of Denafrips Hermes and Terminator Plus.

No one knows about the two colored transceivers (red & blue) actually, if they have no clear assignment…

RSA720 is explicitly advertised for the flagship streamer RS130, but without the DAC function and all the “curiosities/claims” a no-go.
A simple hub system with such difficulties is a design flaw.

I’m happy to be convinced, but it’s going to be difficult.

Maybe a replacement device will solve the problem… or it is a software problem with different DACs that needs to be fixed by HIFI ROSE…!?!
