Exactly, I tried every configuration and sequence of operation I could think of over 2 days. Even going as far as ordering a new optical cable in case id somehow damaged the original. Nothing worked EVER. The RS130 never saw the DAC while plugged into the RS720. It is asinine to think that there has to be specific order to turning on the specific components. This isnt 1952. This HUB is horribly designed or the RS130 is too finnicky to be used with this hub. I really wanted this to work. Ive already sent mine back to the dealer. It isnt worth the headache and NO FEEDBACK from hifirose
Couldn’t it just be possible to leave the RSA720 permanently on like a network switch and then there wouldn’t be any problems with the detection of the DAC? And perhaps it is so that this hub does not work with all DACs properly. It could be of help to receive a list of those that actually work with it though.
Hello, given your findings I was very scared because I just received the RSA720.
RSA720 connected to RS130 in SFP fiber.
My Holo Spring 3 Level 2 DAC is perfectly recognized when plugged into it and works perfectly.
The RS130 recognizes my DAC via the HUB without any difficulty.
On the other hand, as on the RS130 which has its USB Audio input in USB 2.0, although my DAC is in USB 3.0, the Rose USB Hub only recognizes my DAC on the USB 2.0 ports as well.
The Rose Hub also supports hot plugging and unplugging according to my first tests.
And I didn’t have to respect completely distorted lighting orders for the devices as you were able to describe.
Maybe I was lucky? I don’t know. I’m going to push the tests this evening or tomorrow…
I have the RS130 and Spring 3 KTE DAC. THE RSA720 is not difficult to connect.
I went from RS130 vis SFP optical to the RSA720. Then USB 2.0 to the Spring DAC.
No matter how many times i switched ports or SFP Modules, the RS130 would not see the DAC. I even used a new optical cable I ordered from amazon to see if that was the issue. It didnt work.
Normal USB out from the RS130 to my DAC works perfectly. I2S works as well just have the click problem at the start of the song due to locking.
The 2 SFP modules are marked with red and blue. Which module did you use in the RS130?
I sent RSA720 back to dealer. I tried for 2 days to get to function but it never worked
It’s a shame, maybe you weren’t patient enough, because I know that French friends who have the RS130 had difficulties with the RS130 and their USB DAC and the cause was simply…the USB cable.
I have the same DAC as you and no problem so far with both via the RSA720 (fiber mode) and via the RS130.
Then there was perhaps also a failure of the HUB that you received.
Regarding the unknown regarding the assignment of the red and blue SFP modules, I think I remember that the red is on the RS130 and I put it there completely at random. I will test by inverting them to see if there is a functional difference and I will post the result here.
I can say i worked on the problem for 7 hours. The USB cable I use is the same i use now between the RS130 and the DAC. The RS130 sees the DAC no problem. So the only thing I can conclude is 1. The USB hub itself was bad. Or 2 the RS130 outlet was malfunctioning. By the way, using the fiber USB are you noticing a huge difference in sound? Is it that much different between RS130 USB to the DAC directly?
That would make me want to try again if you really hear a huge leap.
Big difference between fiber usb and direct connect USB. Night and day for me.
Sure wish it worked for me. Too bad the ROSE folks wont answer
One more question…when the RSA720 is on what color is the light in the back near the power socket?
it is always Red when power on.
Ok, i thought maybe it turned green and i had it plugged into a switched outlet. Mine was red too when I had it plugged in. Thanks
Yes, it is always Red even it is in operation!
Did you also try one of the other digital outputs (e.g. AES) and compare it with USB fibre? Is USB fibre the best digital output on RS130 in your opinion?
Yes, I have tried all outputs and by far fiber usb with the RSA720 is the best. Virtually noise free and with total clarity due to the signal being cleaned by the pure fiber connection first.
I wonder if my USB cable was too long
I believe you have done everything you can to make it work. My guess is you have a defective RSA720 or the RS130 maybe defective (but less likely). I am not sure there is much more you could do. You could try another RSA720. @ROSELOA @ROSEHAN can you please help @paqua.
The fact they havent responded is kinda telling.
Ya, and thats why when you surf their web and read their manual, they never tell this is for connect DAC, maybe they know something… so this is technically possible, but not guaranteed…. Hope I was wrong… wish Rose is looking for solution…
Pls come back to us ASAP as this issue has been around for quite sometime without you guys feedback no matter how many time we do @ you guys, I request for your honest feedback on what should we do to deal with this issue.
Actually, the RSA720 sometimes just don’t work or work which is unpredictable. In some occasion, I have to reboot my RS130, RSA720 and DAC again and again in order to “beg” for it to work by chance, but I think this is going to hurt my RS130, RSA720 or my DAC.
Please don’t stay silence as specified this is going to hurt my audio system, I wonder what do you expect us to do next if my machine is getting hurt? say complain you guys to your top management about unresponsiveness as well as the defective product design and delivery?
At least pls let us know or recommend us whether you guys are actually working on a solution and recommend us if we should stay away the RSA720 for a while?
Also, pls just don’t recommend us to get a replacement from the resellers or dealers, as many evidence from this community have shown this is not a single incident.
I wish I will have your initial feedback by Monday EOD (22-Jan-2024), pls don’t keep silence…
Thanks alot.
I have just ordered one some days ago. I have a Devialet 220 pro integrated amplifier to which the Rose 130 is connected with a AQ Diamond USB. The system works perfectly so far. I was just wondering whether the issue is in the switching the RSA 720 on and off and why would you need to do so. To me, it is a hub that can stay on at all times, except when you leave your place for a longer time. It does not use a lot of power and it even does not have a separate switch to turn the device on and off. Perhaps it is then meant to stay online at all times. That way you can also ensure that it could be found by the ROSE. If the issue is not related to this, perhaps it does not work with all DACs using a USB connection.
