I have exactly the same setup, to me, this is the most cost effective way to bring my whole system to a new higher level.
Well, in high quality audio we often observe the unexpected. While SFP optical genuinely disposes of connecting grounds between transport/dac thus presumably having less interference it is not (yet) a perfect solution as many ears have witnessed. Whether it is the active receiver circuit in the SFP dac or something else we do not know (yet). May be when the technology matures it will become a standard connection, but not now. Some prefer it, some prefer electric digital connection.
Philsich,
I see I have offended you so I revert the same sentiment.
StandardModel
An overly simplistic and insufficient response, showing no sense of propriety or respect. In Europe, we value a different standard of decorum, so we’ll end the discussion here.
@StandardModel is a good respectful guy - he is my highest “Liked” community member. Please reconsider your opinion of him.
My comment to @StandardModel was maybe direct and critical, but not disrespectful. It was clear that I wanted to keep the focus on the forum’s actual topics. Let’s please end this discussion – the topic here is SFP-USB 3.0 – RS130/RD160 connections.
To get back to the actual topic: I received the original HiFi ROSE USB 3.0 SFP Fiber Connection Kit today. Does anyone here also have this kit and has compared it with other products?
After dozens of failed tests with fiber optics and SFP, finally some good news!.
I only now learn from your message that Rose has a SFP and fiber kit available.
Finally !!!
I hope it works well.
Most likely I will buy it too
Yes, I got the kit as well and I am using it.
It is the same sfp and fiber optic coming with the RSA720 USB fiber hub.
The kit sounds good to me.
Impossible to wait any longer.
I ordered it just a few minutes ago.
Since ROSE US does not ship to Italy I created a Stackry account and got an address in New Hampshire.
I then placed the order with Rose and shipped to Stackry who will forward it to me as soon as it arrives to them.
Fantastic !!!
My experience with the original HiFi ROSE USB 3.0 SFP Fiber Connection Kit, compared to the standard USB connection, has been very positive so far. The connection between the devices works flawlessly—the RS130 always recognizes the RD160 quickly and reliably, provided the DAC is powered on and available, which should be self-evident.
Regarding the sound difference: In my opinion, the SFP connection provides a wider soundstage, and the overall sound is noticeably more open. The bass is even more controlled and punchier (despite already being excellent over USB). The differences between the filters (firmware 1.20) are now even easier to distinguish. So far, I’ve opted for the *Short Sharp filter with upsampling. To me, the midrange appears more accentuated with this filter, whereas with the other filters, I get the impression that the mids are broader—at times, even too broad (though this likely applies specifically to my setup).
Conclusion: From my perspective, the original kit is an excellent choice!
Best regards
The USB 3.0 SFP Fiber Connection Kit is currently in stock and can be ordered through authorized dealers. Delivery took only a few days. ROSE x PIEGA SA operates as the official European distributor for the brand, covering countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Luxembourg, and Switzerland.
That said, I find it difficult to understand why HiFi ROSE is not actively promoting this product. Considering the importance of high-quality fiber connection solutions, this accessory deserves more attention and marketing effort.
Here’s a little tip: Polaris Audio Srl is the official distributor for Hifi Rose products in Italy, and I personally had a really positive experience with their customer service. I reached out to Francesco via the email address info@polarisaudio.it about a different product, and even though he wasn’t responsible for my region in Europe, he kindly took the time to answer my questions thoroughly and in such a friendly manner. I found their service truly outstanding!
Yes, I know Francesco.
I have been in contact with Polaris Audio for various topics related to Rose, but in this case, I mean the SFP kit for the connection between RD160 and RS130, even though I asked for it I did not receive support.
in any case the cost of the kit purchased in Italy cannot be very different from the cost of the kit purchased via Rose US and certainly the route chosen by me (Rose US → Stackry → my home) is certainly the fastest.
Anyway, thanks for the support.
Well, I clearly prefer the Amphenol cable to the Rose SFP kit (the one from the RSA720) for the RS130-RD160 link
It may be the “new one” is different ?
Rose has presented this last kit as specifically designed for the RD160 to RS130 link, not for the RSA720.
I paid 125,00 € – a bit more than $109.00 USD. But still reasonable. This is certainly also related to the different tax rates.
I don’t think so, because the numbers (on the picture) are the same as the RSA720
