Hi @ROSEHAN
Is there any detailed specification for the clock in the RS130 and RD160 ?
I am looking for an external clock. Just wanted to know the differences between them.
I was looking at getting a clock as well, but stuff like this (that makes sense) made me rethink it. I asked a local retailer if they had a demo unit I could try before I bought one, but wasn’t able to get my hands on one.
One thing I did notice was that AES from the RS130 to the RD160 does sound more lively, and my guess is that it’s because you are using the RS130 clock when using AES, vs the RD160 clock in USB/SFP mode. Probably the same clock physically, but difference as to which device is synchronizing the signal. Worth experimenting with before dropping money on a clock that may or may not change anything for the better. The RS130 is such an expensive streamer, and in hindsight I wonder what it’s even doing if you hook it up to your DAC asynchronously (USB/SFP).
Thanks for the information. I’ll have a look.
I go back and forth on the idea, so if you do end up getting one, please share your results. I was looking at the Mutec Ref10 Nano.
Having the Mutec Ref10 Nano since 3 month now and i can very recommend that unit together with original Mutec clock cables. I choosed 50 Ohm input, since my SoTM SnH-10G switch is 75 Ohm.
RS130 recognized the Mutec immediately.
I can described as follows :
It’s like looking a football game on TV in HD before and then you go to 4K.
You stand by a river and listen the water flowing over stones and cracks…,
with Mutec you listen same scenario in the middle of the river.
You will not go back.
Instruments a lot more character and sound natural deeper. Background black top level.
You will feel more connected to the music.
Give Luther Vandross, Album “Your secret love” Track 6 “Too proud to beg” a very try !
My DAC is Holo Audio Cyan2 on I2s since I2s has timing data included.
Some days later i feed the Mutec Ref10 Nano on 15V input on KECES P6.
Maybe it helps you in this game, you will not regret !
Ethernet is asynchronous and data packets are buffered in the streamer. A clock on an ethernet switch doesn’t change anything and cannot change anything by definition of the architecture. When I start reading about external clocks, the people are always talking about network switches, which makes me think its all bull. A clock is necessary and important in the streamer or DAC (depending on your interface/cabling choice) to synchronize the data into PCM or DSD.
Well, i think it’s not that easy …, have a look at protocols between TCP/IP and UDP.
Music streams are deliverd in UDP, without any proofs in data and checksums.
Have a look at Mutec reclocker systems and understand why they are available.
In digital music production nothing works without master clocks which manage every component
in their networks etc.
Many users stacks audophile switches in combination with clock inputs and very positive effects in sound.
In the end 0 and 1 are send analog through cables with a high or low frequence.
The fast change in frequence for 0 and 1 is not always a very clean square wave as it should be.
So reclocking in networks components helps a lot, also.
Our hobby here is a wide field of interesting facts and points and everybody made is own experience.
That’s the fun and fulfillment for me.
This is not music production. You are either synchronizing in the streamer or the DAC, not both.
And music streaming services are definitely not using UDP. This is a good thing.
Because pepople are stupid and will pay for any kind of useless crap.
Because in music production there might be a need to keep multiple DACs and ADCs in sync (nothing to do with network equipment). This is completely irrelevant when you are playing music at home where the only thing that matter is that the clock in the DAC is accurate enough.
Interestingly enough, if you look at the production side you will be hard pressed to find any evidence of SFPs, “audiophool” switches, or fancy cables anywhere.
Show us an example of your bank balance displaying differently depending on a switch or cable,
Don’t confuse facts with people being gullible enough to swallow up any kind of marketing BS some less than honest companies are coming up with.
Its all about reduce Jitter. And it makes a difference. Just listen
I would love to listen, but that’s a lot of money for something that might not change anything.
On youtube there is a video by Hans Beekhuyzen how digital can go wrong. He explains the value of exact timing in the signal. Have a look. Its depands on your setup. In my setup, there is a big difference.
Just really don’t know what you want here, what’s your order or aim ?
Hifi Rose is one of more higher value pricing and quality products.
So, of course, not of interest in any way for your perspective.
Why have you registered here and pray your convictions in such a agressive manner ?
Bye Bye.
It doesn’t, within the range of jitter levels produced even by $5 parts.
Little Hansie is an ignorant prostitute who will say anything and everything as long as it keeps advertising dollars coming. Whatever he is bleating about has no more relation to reality than the nonsense Uncle Paul says, or Johnny Dumbo, or any number of other YouTube whores.
This, obviously, is well beyond your comprehension. Although having a few Rose devices might have something to do with it.
It was, initially, nice looking kit with perfectly fine sound (no different from what you could get for 1/10the the price, of course), albeit hobbled by company’s refusal to hire any competent programmers. Since then they haven’t made a single meaningful upgrade but started charging laughable amounts for pure snake oil.
Please don,t be rude in your conversation. In my opinion we had a nice discussion with hifi as subject on this forum. It is not ment to insult people.
Hi @rosehan, could you do something with this Boris guy who has been insulting a lot of forum members here? This is not free of speech.
I suggest all others to send a message to @rosehan or other HiFi rose staff addressIng the issue.
One can only have a reasonable discussion when both sides stick to facts. Provable facts. Which is something you very provably do not have once you start bringing in demonstrable marketing clowns like Hans.
Awww, poor widdle TomTurd always gets so upset when anyone points out, once again, that poor widdle TomTurd is slightly stupider than an amoeba…
This right here is the problem. You can’t discuss without insulting. Weak.
