The Chinese are gaining on HiFi Rose

Serge,

Thank you for your comments. Two points. One, you are correct that Eversolo’s business model has been to sell cheap as chips products and they have sold a lot of them. So your comment about the business model was 100% correct.
Not so anymore. However, that model was just a stepping stone. From the $70 dollar puck to the $700 DMP A6, to the $1,200 A6 Master Edition to the $1,850 DMP A8 and now to the $3,680 A10 surely you have seen many more features and more high end functionality with each subsequent model. The A10 is knocking on HiFi Rose’s door and its market segment.

Secondly, Eversolo’s attention to the application software is impressive judging by the updates I’ve listed above. Certainly the upgrade progression frequency is way beyond that of HiFi Rose. So was it a different market? Sure. Is it now? What do you think the A12 model will be like? Better than HiFi Rose? You can see the rapid up market progression.
I love HiFi Rose but they should look in the rear view mirror. Something is gaining on them.

Good point and totally agreed

TomT,

I should heed Mark Twain’s advice: “One seldom learns more from the second kick of the mule.”
I’ve stated my concerns. It appears that the powers that be at HiFi Rose don’t agree with me.
I do not want to say bad things about HiFi Rose as I think it’s the best- at least up until now. Like a concerned parent when you see a child about to do something they’ll later regret, I wanted to warn them of what lies ahead.

Very well said. :+1:

But in reality, many children won’t always listen and only learn their lessons after hitting the wall once or twice or even more.

Frequency of firmware update is not a reliable way of measuring how a company is performing. It could simply mean there was a lot to f9x and it eas too urgent to do so on a proper release programme. Innuos ha e excellent software but they only release updates a couple of time over year and they have a clear road map

Dacha,

Yes, you are correct. It could very well mean there were a lot of errors that needed to be corrected. One has to look below the surface to see what is being modified.

In the case of Eversolo the list of additions and improvements is extensive and impressive. In addition to their past record of rapidly moving up the feature chain and now moving from a distribution path of Amazon to upper end audio dealers (by building in 40 point margins into their pricing) says a lot about where they are going and who they are going after. I wouldn’t say that Innuos is safe either.

I am no fan of Eversolo. I am simply afraid for HiFi Rose’s future.

True, but I’d suggest the lack of them when there are serious long standing bugs not being fixed is.

How about this: HiFi Huff says the Eversolo app is better than the HiFi Rose app.

Optical out. D2D converter. Room correction. It’s got it.

I’m watching when I’m typing this. Yes, it has very nice features. Real analog inputs (plural) for instance. But I’m not going to use its dac or DSP since I prefer to choose my own. That’s a large chunk of the price.

Wouldn’t it be much more cost efficient to have a pure streamer with all the digital functions like in a PC? Why do they always make it a 3-in-1?

Also don’t forget Zidoo have a large team of programmers in China that cost a heck of a lot less than Citech can afford to set aside in South Korea.

But simply the fact that I’m watching this review on Rosetube without annoying adds is enough for me.

I see what you did there, nicely done @Jeep

After watching the A10 review, it’s like Eversolo, in many ways, is listening to what we HiFi Rose users complain to and request from HiFi Rose.

Piece of Art:

As you can see, you can make a properly working VU Meter, nice looking app, add Tidal Connect and many more…

Right On! #of updates in the last 12 months is proof that HiFi Rose needs to wake up and NOW!!!.

@ROSEHAN @ROSELOA
In regards to software, HiFi Rose is definitely lagging the competition and as time progresses, the gap is increasing between HiFi Rose & their competition.

Wake Up HiFi Rose, you need to:

  1. quickly increase customer support (i.e., bug fixes, create website for firmware updates complete with Detail Logs, etc.)

  2. quickly enhance the User Interface (Playlists, Album Artists, Amazon Music, etc)

  3. quickly enhance Network Communication (e.g., UPDP/DLNA, SMB2, SMB3, NFS, etc.)

I strongly believe HiFi Rose needs to act now - without a doubt their market share is shrinking; for example, my AV Retailer refused to carry HiFi Rose products because of their poor software reputation.

Agree 100%, none of these software packages is perfect. If you want an advanced music library system or whatever it’s called use Roon.
This is different from the folks who are having issues/bugs that prevent them from playing music, etc.

A10 It is a complete and excellently sounding machine. We’ll see if the Rose 151 can also compete in relation to the price.

I have ordered a Fii0 s15 just to take a good look at it. It really seems to have every possible feature and appears to be well made.
For $1,000 it’s quite a bargain.

Can anyone tell me if this unit has video HDMI out? I’ve looked and looked at the specifications and they are ambiguous. Here’s what Fii0 says" TV or Monitor
S15 supports HDMI output, you can use HDMI cable to connect S15 to TV or monitor. Used to play MV, concert videos. You can watch a drama, play a small game, surf the Internet and so on… "To be clear I’m not talking about eARC but HDMI video out as the HiFi Rose devices have so that album art can be displayed when playing music.
