Which HiFi Rose device for my needs?

I’m new to high-end streaming audio, although I’ve been in high-end audio for 35 years.

I’d like to buy a HiFi Rose product for streaming. My system will be a streaming device, an amp and speakers. I only want to listen to hi resolution streaming services, and I suppose the streamer will have to also act as my preamp, although no other sources will be plugged into it. I’m not going to be plugging in a subwoofer, burning CDs, connecting a TV or a hard drive. Just music streaming.

Which HiFi Rose devices would be able to do this for me?

And how do they compare to one another?

Thank you in advance,
Gary

As I understood, you want for a streamer to have an integrated DAC and stream thru the analog out. You have two choices - RS250 or double bigger and double the price RS150.

I don’t think the RS250 has a DAC, so that would be another box. Right? Thanks Burle!

I think the RS 250A does have a DAC. I owned one.

Here’s what Chat GpT says:The HiFi Rose RS250A is a high-end digital music player known for its impressive sound quality and versatile features. Users often praise its sleek design, intuitive touchscreen interface, and support for various audio formats, including high-resolution files. The device typically includes streaming capabilities, allowing access to popular music services, and features like a built-in DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) for enhanced audio performance.

Reviewers frequently highlight its robust build quality and the ability to connect to other audio equipment seamlessly. However, some users may find the price point to be on the higher side compared to similar products. Overall, the RS250A is well-regarded among audiophiles looking for a premium music playback experience.

RS 250A has a DAC. I am the owner of one 250A. They have the same DAC chip. I am not sure about other differences (clock, opamps, etc) but they should sound about the same on the analog output. Biggest difference is that 150 has balanced outputs and 150 has only single ended. On digital side 150 has AES3 input and output and I2S as well. Naturally the biggest difference is their size - 150 is about double the width and double the height compared to 250. So if a screen siza matters for you - here is the main difference. There are more differences for sure, but as never had an 150 at home can not tell…
