I am interested, been trying to connect my remote for 2 hours with no benefit, if you have something to help, would be wrlcome
You mean the remote that came out with the box, or your phone/tablet? The remote should work right away, once the batteries are inserted.
Silly question: the batteries were in perfect order and you inserted them the right away? How is your phone doing as an alternative?
I am having trouble with both the provided remote and I do not have the dongle for the phone or I pad. I will leave the batteries out of the remote for a few minutes to see if that helps. The orientation of batteries is shown in the remote.
Neither your phone, nor iPad need a dongle in your Rose to get connected, as far as I’m concerned.
Did you install the app in your phone/iPad and connect to the same network as your Rose? Did you look up being connected on the device itself?
Have you tried other batteries, by any chance?
Good luck!
Hello everyone !
I love reading all the NERDS shit and garbage that they leave on this topic.
Improvements are unnecessarily demanded for listening to music online, what you hear online and regardless of the platform is simply garbage.
Hifi Rose RS250A, has an excellent DAC to play high quality audio, in my case I connect an external USB hard drive and enjoy my music, which I have in ISO SACD - TR24 - Wav’s formats from my own CDS.
Friends, don’t break your balls anymore with these nonsense, or break the piggy bank and buy 10,000 dollar Streamers.
I wish you a nice Christmas with your family, friends and loved ones.
José
Ah, another know-it-all with no clue…
Indeed, it does.
Equivalent sound quality can be had for about $300, give or take on streaming requirements. The rest is for convenience, ergonomics, esthetics and build quality. And, for many an audiophile, bragging rights of having spent thousands of dollars more than necessary.
Dear friend Boris, thank you for existing, what would the audio world do without you?
If there is a place to donate money, so that people like you can gain more knowledge, please let me know.
Have a fantastic Christmas and a very nice start to the new year.
José.
I am sure your local school district would greatly appreciate a donation to fund teaching people some basic critical thinking skills.
I wouldn’t really call the api documented by the OP RESTful. It’s more RPC like. Looks like you can even determine what’s valid for *.set APIs by transforming the request to *.get:
curl --get http://$RS_HOST_NAME:9283/vu.mode.type.get
{"arr":["Turn off VU mode","Rose Style","Green Style","Purple Style","Red Style","White Style","A Style","B Style","C Style","D Style","E Style","F Style","RA180 Style"],"vu_mode":0,"vu_on_off":0,"vu_speed":0,"code":"G0000","status":{"errorCd":"","errorMsg":"","outs":"OK"},"version":"1.0.9"}
I have collaborated countless times so that children can have critical thinking skills and can learn that playing at being god in front of a computer monitor is something that is going to turn them into real idiots.
I conclude my contribution on this topic, I hope you can enjoy the Hifi Rose products, without questioning things so much (there is always the possibility of researching the product, before going out to buy it).
Merry christmas!
You are right. You will get a lot of flak from people who love Rose, and that is fine, but the product’s software is unbelievably bad, only usable as an endpoint for Roon. There is a guy in YouTube, I think in Germany, who is the one I know who said from the beginning that the software is far from being a replace of Roon as many reviewers in YT said. I bought a RS130 thinking in replacing my whole Roon setup, having the files locally in its HD and managing the library (20.000 files, DSD, ALAC) from its app and it was a nightmare. I returned it and after a while I bought a 250 as an endpoint for Roon. When I needed a second endpoint for another system, I went with Eversolo. Cheaper. And equally good sounding. The problem with Rose is overpromised and underdelivered. Thanks for your post.
Yup. Some people should apply it to audio as well, and learn that hearing things that are not there is a sign of delusion, not of some golden ears.
Funnily, that’s an advice that should be aimed mostly at people who keep bitching about Rose products because they could not have been bothered to research it before buying,
Anyone who seriously said that Rose (or BluOS, or Aurender, or Auralic, or Lumin, or any other streamer software) is, in any way, a replacement for Roon is an idiot. But then 99% of YT review channels are basically OnlyFans of people you definitely do not want to see naked.
It would not have been only a somewhat lesser nightmare with others. You’d get much better scan times and less flaky UI, but there is a reason Roon can command their prices. Nothing else comes close, most certainly nothing hosted in a streamer box running on a phone CPU. That’s where doing research before buying something comes in. And buying 130 when 250 does more, and is entirely equivalent in the common functionality is silly anyway.
Some Chinese DAC with a Raspberry Pi would be even cheaper, and equally good sounding, too (more flexible as well). With these audiophile products you generally aren’t paying for sound quality.
These are Veblen goods to a large degree. Spending more makes them sound better to quite a few people. For the rest, you decide if you want to pay for looks, convenience (such as it is…) and build quality.
JMBARG,
Ah, my favorite philosopher, Thorstein Veblen. “The Theory of the Leisure Class”.
His favorite epiphany? “You do not own possessions, they own you.”
Never more true than when applied to audio bling.
StandardModel
Even more so, as those expensive bling products are often also inferior by any objective criteria.
JMBARG: I read through this thread with great interest, since as an early adopter of a RS150B, I have struggled with the foibles of their database.
Now I will admit that DG31L5 started the thread rather provocatively and hence should have expected to get some flame replies (if you provoke then you have to expect blow back). However, DG31L5, did offer some solutions (albeit, nothing that I will try, but I always applaud if you raise a problem then offer a solution - tact). Then I read BorisM responses, which frankly were full of denigration and devoid of any solution - all critique and bile - no worthwhile information at all. I suspect on other forums, Boris will happily drag someone through the mud if he does not like the manner of their grammar (these folk have the need to make their presence known despite the fact that they do not add to community understanding).
Your posting to Boris was rather reasonable, but I suspect you incited him (if Boris identifies as a he - this is an assumption on my part - I suspect pronouns are very important to Boris) with a Merry Christmas. If you continue to engage, keep wishing the blessings of the season upon him.
Now I probably incited Boris also by mis-gendering him and talking about him in the third person (the lack of education slander that this ilk proffers is always a clue in that regard). I suspect that some grade a flame throwing will ensue (left you a gift, Boris - hit me with capitalization). Break out the dried corn, Boris will pop it for you. Have a Merry Christmas.
Are you auditioning for Harvard President or something? I heard those people do care about pronouns but never facts… Or are you just very good at projecting?
As for the OP’s post, alas it did not contain any new information that was not known to anyone who had bothered to run Wireshark for 10 minutes, but was full of misinformation, half-truths, and misunderstandings that are pretty common when people with no idea about how software (and product in general) development works.
There is something about audio that seems to invite people who are militantly ignorant and like staying such.
If you have anything facts-based to say on the subject, this would be the place to add it. I’m not holding my breath though.
Well that did not take long. Hey, Merry Christmas. Enjoy the Blessings of the Season.
Boris… as pleasant as ever… But it’s true that this time of year has always been a bit tricky for him, as omniscience brings its share of fatalities, the greatest of which is loneliness. That’s why, dear Boris, I’d still like to wish you - and all the members of this forum of course - a very happy holiday season. I’ve even got a little present for you: some photos of the DIY project I did on my own in 2014, when I still had plenty of time to devote to my passion. Of course, I’d be delighted to receive a small gift from you in return (any concrete, creditable achievement directly related to the subject that brings us together on this forum will do).
Otherwise, I’m working in my spare time to get you the requested information on the database used by Rose. I’m sure I’m not telling you anything by saying that it already makes use of the native SQLite engine integrated into Android, and that it’s developed entirely - it’s obvious - in the Java language. I read on another post that you could correct the situation and completely overhaul the way it works in 1 week. I was a little disappointed at first, knowing that God had managed to create the world in the same amount of time, but then I remembered how much you need to devote to this forum populated by uneducated people, you who have been registered since 2019 and continue to haunt it even though you find nothing wrong with Rose’s productions (everything works perfectly), and who obviously don’t come here to get new food for thought or information from others. What self-sacrifice! Anyway, I hope I’ll be able to provide you with something to prove your brilliance… although here again I’m amazed that you’re not able to get this information yourself… (I know! it’s a test, isn’t it?). Cheers!
Patricia.
Don’t pay attention to him, he’s the kind of person who exists when you pay attention to him…
Imbeciles, they are like ants, they are all over the planet.
Enjoy your Hifi Rose and be happy.
Shouldn’t you be burning down your local Starbucks or something?
Good for you. DDoes not seem to show anything software-related though, and that’s what we are talking about here.
I am pretty sure that some of the stuff I worked on, you encounter every time you browse the internet…
That’s… not exactly unexpected. But as I am sure you know, you can write crappy software even with these two, and ROse’s DB management is exactly that.
See above. I did research before buying it, it works for my use case. As a matter of fact, I’ve had fewer problems with it, for my usage, than with a fancy NAD streamer…
