A competitor for the RS520? What do you think?

Of course. $200 for a 25W job is still too expensive, although if you like it clipping trying to play just bout anything you might like it better than something more reasonable.

If you think that capacitors (unless you get them from AliExpress and they are of some random spec) sound different, I got a nice bridge to sell you.

Boris, again you seem to know nothing about anything.

25wpc @8 and 50wpc @4 is enough power to drive most speakers at normal listening levels in either a small room or in a near field setting. If you have more efficient speakers… then plenty of power.

As w different capacitors… yes they sound different. You’d know this if you’ve actually done the leg work.
But hey! since everything sounds the same for you… just go get your chi-fi gear and be happy.

Jay Lee dropped a new YT video where he talks about some of the Korean products out there.
(Jay’s Iyagi is the YT channel)

One brand on his radar… Ella Sonika … They offer an AIO for $2500 .
In Korea its 1.65M Won which is roughly $1150 USD depending on FX rate.
So the $2500 would probably include Tariffs and what not.

Don’t know anything about them…

Of course you could go Aurender which is going to be more $$$

Yeah I don’t care about fairy tales salesmen tell ignorant clowns like you so they can sell other people’s rejects. For you it’s just the thing though.

When all you listen to are some ā€œaudiophileā€ tracks, Diana Krall or something, then yes. Granted, that’s the only thing your speakers are good for, so it would work for you…

Uh huh. And power cables, too. Don’t forget to play with fuses.

No, it’s not the same. A $300 Topping or something does sound much better than a 160, for example.

Smegel,

Nice screen. What size is it?

Standaedmodel

Actually Boris I’ve been listening to Diana Krall for over 25yrs now.
And if that’s the best you could do in terms of ā€˜audiophile’ tracks… your lack of music knowledge is staggering.

And just FYI… I tend to listen to YoYo Ma and Bach cello for my listening tests. But that is mostly due to the fact that I know the music.

What, no ELP? Dead Kennedy’s Holiday in Cambodia? Pink Floyd? Jeff Beck? Oh so much more.

Also would recommend Snow Tha Product for some test tracks too.

And for a bonus Otyken… yes that’s what I’ve requested when at AXPONA in some rooms.

On the Ella?

No idea. I asked Jay about the amp… he said it was their own Class D.

There is no US/Canadian distributor, so you’d be buying it from Korea. 1.6M Won which is roughly 1200 USD, but then when you add in shipping and duties/tariffs Its like $2200 - $2500 I think.

Jay also said that they were more Korean that Rose. :smirk:

Boris I will add this…

In the analog space… yes cables matter to a point.
In digital no… not if they are made to spec. You can go back and see that I’ve been very clear on this.

The only digital space where cables matter is w USB-C connected dongle dacs because the USB-C also provides the power. (which is what makes the difference. ) You wouldn’t understand this because you don’t really know your shit.

And go play w the fuses… that would be you. Me? I’ll spend the money on cleaning up my power w a line conditioner.

That shows.

I listen to music, not audiophile drivel.

Wow. Mikey knows two names he could see in the newspaper. So impressive!

I got bored of them about… 30 years ago. There are dozens of much better prog bands out there that you have never heard about.

Which point is it?

What does USB-C power delivery have to do with digital audio transmission? And no, it still does not matter if the cable in question is a certified cable and not some Temu fake.

Uh huh. Which is the same thing for all practical purposes.

Aw Boris.
Is that the best you can do?

I gave you a bunch of music and musicians.
But while I do listen to YoYo Ma for checking out sound… I also listen to him casually.
Its the Bach Cello pieces that I know very well. That happens when you actually learn to play an instrument.

Now go run along. Listen to your EDM

Pink Floyd’s DSM and Animals in Dolby Atmos are sublime, on my system anyway. Wish You Were Here gets the same treatment next month, can’t wait for the Blu-ray release. Lots of Dolby Atmos recordings out there are not so good and seemed to have been mixed in a slapdash manner.

I like all kinds of music but I do find myself looking to see what recordings reviewers use for their listening tests. Back in the day I used to go right for the measurements, comparisons and conclusions but I have learned to expand my musical horizons over the last decade or so. And I have to say, the quality of the recording is so damn critical to a good listening experience. I don’t care what kind of equipment you have, a bad recording will not sound good on it.

Exactly.

This is how I find new music.
Darko has some interesting picks.

After upgrading the XO on my Hadyns the Clarity PUR caps made a huge difference. And yes bad recording sounded bad. Good recordings sounded great.

One Album that came up recently Songe by Cincent Belanger. (Canadian Cellist.)

I also picked up on Oi Va Voi but its not for everyone.

Good enough for you.

Sure, the most generic list of names everyone knows and a few arena rock acts. Are we supposed to be impressed that Mikey had heard of Pink Floyd? Really?

Indeed… Quite unsurprisingly, someone who listens to Diana Krall, or anything with ā€œthaā€ in its name would believe that EDM is music, too…

I’m sure it sounds really sweet when you pump up those J.C. Whitney amps in your Civic!

Well you see Boris… if you actually listened to a variety of music you’d know there are a lot of different genres.

But the best you could do was come up w Diana Krall.

Grownups are speaking if you have something to add. speak. If not… go away and play w Amir at ASR

I am quite sure that at least 75% of the ones I listen to, you don’t even know their names.

And not at all surprisingly that’s something that you have been listening for decades.

Sorry kid. Grownups do not listen to ā€œtha’s.ā€

Naw. The reverse.
He didn’t like that.

Met lots of people like Amir at clients.
Couldn’t code so moved into management.

Smegel,

The Peter Principle at work.
