Are we complaining too harshly about HiFi Rose products

I believe, we all agree the RS130 is an incredible hardware product that produces beautiful hi-end audio. The complaints I’ve read are primarily about the software.

History & Customer Support:

HiFi Rose created this incredible Community Forum Tool (that’s great customer support) ← very few Audio/Video Product organizations do this.

HiFi Rose’s active customer support is proven by its past history; see below.

IMO, some of us are complaining too harshly

I believe, the harsh complainers are expecting too much and are expecting everything now. Some complaints are legit - especially the hardware faults & the interconnect problems.

I am encouraging the report of problems and the report of suggestions/ideas-to-consider. I am discouraging the doom & gloom harsh complaints. Suggestions & problem reporting does help HiFi Rose evolve their software. Doom & gloom harsh complaints achieves nothing.

IMO, we need to understand HiFi Rose’s Planned Evolution

I believe, HiFi Rose RS130 was originally designed to be a hi-end music streamer. Music media playback & music media server functions are secondary functions. (BTW, The CD Ripping product function is still to be considered as an experimental function ← I recommend CD ripping is best to be done using MAC or PC third-party programs.)

  • RS130 is great for Qobuz, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, Tidal, Tidal Connect, Symphony.live,… ← Amazon Music is still a work-in-progress. (Hence, RS130 is a great music streamer)

  • Currently, the RS130 has Music Media Playback/Server UIF weaknesses; hence, if you don’t like the Rose Connect Premium app then consider using Roon as your music media playback user interface or purchase a dedicated media player like Dune HD 8K Max ← Dune HD is a Home Theater Movie/TV Show media player/server (& IPTV Player) that is currently evolving to include a music/photo-slideshow media player & music/photo media server user interface (some streaming service android apps may run but are not officially supported on the Dune HD 8K media products)

  • for other people’s opinions, see Benefits of RS130 User Interface Software

  • Realize that RS130 has many great functions, including:

    • RoseFM: “country” radio stations with beautiful Vintage Radio front panel “user interactive” display (see, Can RoseFM be made available on RS130?)

    • RoseRadio: great especially with Shazam; has many radio stations

    • RoseTube: great for searching/playback of ad-free YouTube music videos

    • Roon Ready with current song/artist info shown on the front panel display

    • Rose Connect Premium app (for android, ios, windows) is continually improving ← android app supports both portrait & landscape mode

    • Since Version 5.9, playlists have evolved (for additional improvements, see [Release] Official v5.9 Feature Introduction - #13 by Boldlygo)

    • For prospective buyers & owners who are getting frustrated due to the lack of Help Guides & lack of a detailed User Guide, see RS130 User Interface

I hope the above helps you participate in this forum and encourages you to help other forum members & to help HiFi Rose evolve their products.

From my side i say i totally agree with you !

Completely on the positive side i had many many happy and nice hours with my RS130.
2 years ago my journey began learning about bringing music streaming really up to sratch.
The way placing FC media converters, audiophile switches and a masterclock wasn‘t possible without such hardware and forums like this one, ideas of cables etc.

This very unique masterpiece of hardware realization in Hifi Rose way is a optimal basement,
searching the market will not bring near equal solutions, specially in RS130.

Being more on the listening side, i am confident with the Hifi Rose Connect App in iOS.
Understanding their ideas brings very good results in using, Qobuz Connect brings for a lot
users maybe more comfort, everybody has it‘s own preferencies.

The way one forum user here destroy everybodys ideas, make enjoying our hobby bad that way,
was not my aim going with my listening jouney.

Thank you very much about your thoughts !

Best regards from Hamburg / Germany this sunday.

Joyofmd,

As a certified fanboy of Rose products (I have a 250, 520, 130 and a 160-is that enough??) I completely agree. Thanks for an excellent summary.

It is largely as you write. There were also many more small improvements along the way that made the product really good.

For me, ROSE is the equipment thanks to which I discovered a lot of new, beautiful music, and that is probably the most important thing.

Still i miss precise reading and handling of tagged music data like those in FLAC files. Tagged according to official tag standards which are not implemented in the Rose OS.

… some more…

Ben,

you are not wrong. Some things-like files tagged to official tag standards should have been implemented from the beginning. Have you tried any of the tagging software programs like MusicBrainz Picard and mp3tag?

Reassure me:
Does the RS130 read all the tags on FLAC music tracks with pre-recorded tags?

domrol,

“all” is a very encompassing word. I’m not sure about all but the main ones, yes.

Thank you, StandardModel.
The most important ones for me are:

  1. the musical genre recorded in the tag
  2. the track name
  3. the album name
  4. the composer’s name
  5. the artist’s name
  6. the album photo

Are all these tags for a FLAC track read by the Hifi Rose RS130?
Thank you for your answers.
