And yet here there is no DAC (RS130) a file that touched the OCXO clock?
Message de Patrice P:
In my case, on the RS130 (connected via Amphenol SFP) to the RD160, it’s so obvious.
Last night, I went back to 5.8 beta, but what a difference!!! What a pleasure again!!! We can’t call it a small, inaudible difference or audiophile whims… Yet before going back to 5.8, I did two hard resets, the sound was still flat, without meat on the bones and very incisive, too much…
In short, if Hifi Rose says they haven’t changed anything, they’re either being dishonest or stupid.
For my part same result for 2 days, reset once then I installed Early Access (5.8) and like Patrice P the rendering is perfect (RS130)
I then put back the official version, so new factory reset and everything works perfectly!! Corrupted update? Interrupted?
I don’t know
Hello Gilles,
As I told you in our conversations, I reconnected my external clock, which I had removed after moving.
Well, I must say that adding the clock fixed the problem; the sound is harmonious, warm, and deep again. The strange thing is that after installing this external clock, I switched back to the internal clock, and the sound also returned to normal… Sure, the external clock is slightly better, with more depth and more micro-details, but to be completely honest, it’s just subtle.
I don’t know what to think: was it a corrupted file, or did I just have to change the clock type several times?
The fact is, the problem is solved, but not without some scares.
Now I’m wondering if I’ll leave the external clock or not, it takes up space and I don’t have as much as before.
Thank you Patrice for your answer
Happy that everything is back to normal, like at home
Happy Sunday
Hello Gilles, hello all!
I spend some hours this weekend on hearing music on my „ corrupted ? “ RS151 after the update.
I upgraded to the pre release 5.8, made a hardware reset and the great sound was back. Additionally the issue with the Power On/Off (Switching On/Off the RS151 using Roon as well as the main Power button) disappeared. But all filters had different names.
Why is Rose not publishing the table @Cougar2025 received via PM officially e.g. in the release notes?
Then I was brave and „downloaded“ again the new version and the great sound is still there.
But the Power On/Off issue popped up again. Luckily for me this is a minor issue comparing to the sound degradation und I will send a failure description to Rose.
Why Rose does not have a download page like most other tech companies which is offering firmware downloads optional to the direct download using their equipment? I know very well that any firmware upgrade might fail.
I assume that plenty of the discussion and bad comments could have been omitted by optionally using a file on usb-stick.
I am happy that the sound is back, but I am frightened it might happen with any future update again.
Happy Sunday!
Thank you for your feedback Stéphane.
Have a good day
Hello.
I also noticed after the update that the sound was destroyed. A factory reset as it was on the new version solved the problem and the sound came back. I hope that helps.
I did exactly what you said, and in my particular case the sound was never the same again.
They don’t have a website or customer support that’s clear, fast, and dynamic, because they don’t give a damn about having one. They rely on this platform to provide “support.”
There’s no point in demonizing it, mate. I had an RS 250 for almost four years and the sound never deteriorated after an update, and I don’t know anyone who experienced this after an update.
This is the first time this has happened to some people, but as you know, not everyone, so it’s unclear why it happened to some people after the update. We have to believe that with subsequent updates, people won’t have problems with sound degradation, even though Rose claims they didn’t tamper with the sound or the DAC.
I have made many updates with my Ex RS150b, RS130 without fortunately having the slightest problem. This is the first time it happens to me
Remember that at the beginning of the year a corrupt update affected all RD160, fortunately I had not done it, a patch was put on the site (not the forum) to return to the previous version.
So it can happen except that there, fortunately, it has affected few devices
Hi
I don’t have issues on PIN code , simiply just set the 8 digits code in all numbers.
About the sound, actually the bass becomes less then before. Luckily it just perfectly match with my system and listening room. I cannot say the sound is flat, I would like to use the words balance instead. When I listen George’s Bizet Carmen the sound stage is big, all instructions at right locations. Regarding “Bright”, you might adjust to higher volume to achieve your preference. I found that the gain output is different from before.
Strange, the team claims not to have touched anything at the audio level.
There were a few of us to see it but we talked in a vacuum
Rose may say they did not tamper with the sound. But why is another fir filter default now. I canged it to another one and the sound became better.
This setting can be found under in and out settings. Tap the wheel on the speaker setting and go for a slow roll off filter. You will be pleasantly surprised. At least I was.
After an update, certain settings can sometimes become corrupted, not just with Rose, but with other devices as well, and not just in audio. Rose engineers wrote that it’s possible the filter has changed, so you should reset it to your preferred setting.
What device do you have and what filter setting do you have now?

What device do you have?
Best regards, Rodak
Well that could be what those who felt that they heard a change… their current settings may have changed.
It could have been reset to the default.
I just did a factory level install, something I should have done earlier.
I bought my unit used from a dealer. One of his clients who bought it earlier this year returned it so he could buy more expensive components instead of the AIO. I got a great deal.
I think someone found some bugs… and Rose indicated that they will be fixed in the next release.
Personally, I’d rather have a better DAC chip, and GaN amp over a slightly better UI.
As @JMBARG already suggested, good practice (I know it from custom ROMs in Android) is to do FACTORY RESET before such massive firmware upgrades as this one. Conflicts between new code and the remnants of old settings if you do just an OTA may happen. So again FACTORY RESET before major update!
Yes, or do that in case you encounter issues.
In my case, I had none (not even soundwise), so didn’t have to reinstall settings
I put what you said into practice, and in my particular case, it only served to waste my time. I hope they release a new version of the software and firmware soon that fixes all these problems.
