Wow.
On the RS520 its split so you have to pull down the Numeric keypad.
Dear, Iām complaining because I paid thousands for a product that, after the first software update, makes a shitty sound. Is that clear to you? Why am I complaining?
@JMBARG
Ok, did you do a factory reset?
Did you try to revert to an earlier release and then do the upgrade again?
(also doing a factory reset? )
Did you check your settings?
I am not your dear and of course I understand what youāre all about. I will just be sure to avoid wasting my time reading about your problems with making your Hifi Rose work! I do hope you figure it out though so you can enjoy your music like we all aspire to do!Cheers!!
Iāve done everything you could possibly ask me and more. The people at HiFi Rose claim they havenāt messed with the DACās operation (which I donāt believe, because my system doesnāt sound like it did before the update). Iām afraid Iāll have to wait until the next update and cross my fingers that they fix everything they messed up with the current one.
Iām kinda at a loss.
Sorry that youāre hearing something differently.
Have to wonder if your settings got mucked up in the upgrade.
I donāt know anything about your system, but have you tried any other sources like a turntable or CD player since the update? You may have mentioned this but I donāt want to go back to read, I apologize in advance if you have.
@ Jmbarg
Have you tried to change the fir filter to slow roll off? as I described on aug 25.
Is this version stable? I read a lot of this, but I donāt see where anyone is stating they updated there streamer and all worked as planned. I have a new RS150 and it came loaded with version 4.7. I donāt feel like updating if I am going to have issues. So, has anyone updated a RS150 with success?
I have a few things to check.

Please tell me the version information of your RS150.
RS520ā>Settingsā>System infoā>System version info
The current Rose OS version for the RS520 is 5.9.07. -
Does the same issue occur after resetting your RS520 to factory settings?
RS520ā>Settingsā>System settingsā>Factory reset
If your system version is 4.7, it seems you havenāt updated in a very long time.
If your RS150 is currently running version 4.7 and is working without any issues, you can continue using it. However, we recommend updating to the latest version to experience the new features.
Hi ROSEHAN,
The Rose OS version of my RS520 is 5.9.07. After performing a factory reset, I still encountered the issue I reported, and each time I needed to unplug the power cable and restart the unit. However, the problem has not reappeared in the past two days.
My device is RS 150B and it works perfectly after updating. The new version solved the problem described in the thread āSkips while playing by its ownā. I have never had this issue since then.
Mofi is the US distributor and yes they are here in the Chicagoland area.
Hifi Rose USA has operations in NV.
Not sure if you meant me.
I was merely pointing out the locations in the US that handle Rose.
I recently bought an RS151, which sounded wonderful and was everything I expected from the product. The problems started when I made the mistake of updating the latest software. The sound changed, going from a spectacular product to sounding like crap you can buy at any supermarket for $600. The people at HiFi Rose responded to my email and assured me that the update didnāt affect the DACās performance, which I donāt believe. I had an RS250A for a while, which I ran countless software updates on and never had a single problem.
They donāt take responsibility for anything! They simply curse the customers who buy their products. Do you think anyone at HiFi Rose bothered to apologize or tell me theyāll fix things in a future update? You shouldnāt speak ill of anyone, especially if they deserve it⦠I donāt know if I can do that.
I havenāt heard anyone apologize for updates, even in more expensive devices, so theyāll fix the update and thatās it. Oddly enough, a friend of mine bought a Rose RS 151 a week ago and updated it. He doesnāt complain about the sound, only about slightly reduced dynamics. But heās not very knowledgeable about Rose settings, so maybe he didnāt set something up correctly.
I still havenāt updated my Rose 151 to the latest update.
Donāt even think about updating it! Donāt touch anything, and enjoy it like this!
@ROSEHAN Is there any official response from HiFi Rose on the update breaking multiple RS130ās? I have not had a working RS130 for two weeks because of this and the official repairer says they wonāt have the replacement parts for months. At this rate it will have been in repair for longer than I have had it in my possession.
Add to that the fact that the couriers the repairer booked dropped my unit and damaged it badly - The people that sold it to me Kronos AV say it wasnāt insured and that I have to pay for the damage FFS!!!
This is nightmare.
Hi, I made an account just to point out something I havenāt seen anymore mention about the 5.9+ update.
Unfortunately Hifi Rose is making a falsehood about the audio quality change, I have proof. The FIR Super Slow Roll Off, the RS151ās default filter, and the filter I preferred by a wide margin, was removed. Some have pointed out the default changed, this is correct, because they removed the original default. The SSRO filter is one coveted by audiophiles for its clarity, which many have pointed out the RS151 isnāt as clear sounding as it once was.
The fact that the app can āforceā the filter back(it makes the RS151 crash among some other problems) says itās an āoopsieā, one they should have expressed humility about, and already fixed.
To be honest, It seems they may have rolled out a RS150/250 update to the RS151, as the 151 seems to be exclusively having the problems. The streamer is now $5700 before taxes, so itās even more troubling Rose has failed to realize they shot the RS151 in the leg with the removal of the filter. No amount of factory resets will fix this. Rose needs to include in its next update the ability to āroll backā so in the future these kinds of things can be fixed. As Rose clearly canāt be trusted to not break their products.
(I want to point out that all of the FIR filters have changed names too, so the FIR is in line with the 250 naming conventions and no longer the 151, which is why I think they messed up and overwrote the 151 FIR with the wrong devices FIR settings)
