I am experiencing the following issue in my RS151:

On August 13, 2025, I performed the software update as announced. The update procedure went smoothly without any issues.

Version 5.9
Rose OS 5.9.07
Rose Main 5.9.07.1
Rose Service 5.9.07.1

What is happening now?

The audio quality of the RS151 has changed. Everything sounds much harsher, flat, and robotic.
It has lost the warmth and depth that I had before the software update.
The settings and configuration of the unit are exactly as they were prior to the update.

Why is, that after the last update 5.9.02, you can’t change the text on the Rose 150b with special characters? When I rip a CD, the apostrophe is sometimes missing! Then I usually edit the track on the display and insert the apostrophe! Have always worked perfectly. But after the last update I can’t do that anymore :flushed: I was hoping, that it was corrected again in the new version, but sadly it’s not! Just get a message, that it can’t use special characters!
Please enlighten me!

I just heard one of my favorite test tracks, which I have used in the last year during upgrading my hifi equipment:

Biber: Mystery Sonatas, Sonata 16: The Guardianen Angel with Amandine Beyer
Her baroque violin lost all colors and her play is sharp and flat.

Please send us the downgrading instruction asap.
Especially with the additionally broken “switch on” function using Roon on the RS151.

After downloading the latest version, my RS130 still dosen’t show up in Qubuz and Spotify app. Starting to get quite frustrated.

Thousands of dollars thrown away because the update is crap; it seems they’ve compromised the DAC functionality, which was one of the reasons I left the RS250A and switched to the RS151. How can they DESTROY THE SOUND OF THE UNIT? I want them to explain to me how to go back to the previous version of the software or to urgently give us a patch to solve this problem. They’re literally shitting all their buyers and users. I retract my “good things are yet to come” statement. I no longer trust HiFi Rose; Eversolo will be my next destination.

100% I see that I’m not the only one with the same problem and in fact I consulted Roseloa and Rosehan, and they themselves encourage you to update so that everything is more stable and works better
 Apparently, they don’t have the slightest idea of what happens with the updates, or they are deaf.

How can they release a software update without being aware of what it will do to the product’s audio? If you think about it, they’re shooting themselves in the foot, especially with a device like the RS151, which was recently released.

If I were the owner of HiFi Rose, I’d be laying people off right now and starting to fix this problem immediately. And by Monday or Tuesday at the latest, the update would be available so the device
can deliver the audio it’s capable of. They’ve basically messed up the DAC.

for me looks like script kiddies, with no knowledge of test management. Because the feel like “I’m the goodfather of programming” Understanding this “company style” is a killer for reliable products.

Also the style of trething customer here in the forum is like chinese seller in Aliexpress.

Next time look first in the support forum before buying new device / stuff :slight_smile: :slight_smile:

That’s why I never update my devices right away and wait for feedback from everyone, good or bad, before update.

As a matter of principle, if it works well for what it’s essentially intended to do, in this case, music, I don’t change it.

The music is what matters most; ergonomic issues come second.

For music i use a high worth analog hifi equipment with separate pre and main amplifier of which the Rose 520 is just another external sound source.
Since the Rose 520 has a built in amplifier section i use this one with external speakers as well. i can switch between 3 different pairs of speakers
The analog equipment has a class A/B while the rose has a class D amplifier.
The analog equipment has much better sound qualities in all aspects of listening compared to the digital amplifier of the Rose.

it is what my ears tell me
 1/10 to 1 watt of music power output after more than 2 years of owning the Rose.

I haven’t noticed any deterioration in sound quality after the update, but I’ll check again closely. My device is an RS-250.
Did you check the FIR settings after the update?

In fact, I use the RS130 and the RD160 DAC from Hifi Rose.

The rest of my electronics is an Atoll PR400 preamplifier, and I have four AM400 mono bridged amplifiers that feed my pair of Focal Utopia Scale Evo speakers in vertical bi-amplification.

My power electronics operate in class A at low output and then switch to class AB as soon as the power is increased a little.

So I don’t use any Hifi Rose’s preamp or power electronics.

Confirm my RS130 sounds even better with 5.9.07 as before !

Maybe RS151 / RS130 needs different software kernels in sound engine relevant sections,
or it depend‘s on custom systems, which should not be this way.
Feeding a Holo Cyan 2 DAC through I2s from RS130 A-Mode ending in Primare SPA25.
