Optical Connection on RS130

I understand that the optical connection was designed to go between the 130 streamer and the 160 DAC for a clean transfer of data between them. I have both the 130 and 160 and have ordered the SFP Connection Kit.

But then I see the RSA720 Optical Hub, and read that I could connect a hard drive or a CD transport to the 130 to reduce the noise there. There is only one SFP port available, however, so it seems like you have to choose one or the other. The ethernet SFP has my copper ethernet cable in it.

Its a shame that the RSA720 doesn’t have an ethernet port, because then you could plug in your ethernet, CD, Hard Drive, all into the hub, and then the hub optically into the 130. This would still leave the second SFP available to connect to the 160.

Am I understanding this all correctly?

You are right, PatrickK.

If you use sfp to connect the R130 and 160, there is no more sfp port on the RS130 for the RSA720.

See the diagrams (go to the very top) I posted before:

RS130 + RD160
RS130 + RSA720

There is only ONE USB3.0 FIBER port on the RS130.

Surely you can still connect the RSA720 to the RS130 via a USB cable. But that would defeat the benefit of noise suppression from optic fibre.
