The Chinese are gaining on HiFi Rose

Interesting, can you tell us how you connect the T8 to your system and which DAC you are using?

Can you check if DSD gapless through something like your own library works?

It’s quite amusing to observe people dumb enough to think that there is any kind of direct relationship between price and quality.

Even more amusing when those single-digit IQ clowns know who the are and run around flagging posts.

Well, trying to learn anything would be useless for them as they have no brains to begin with.

I am using fibre optic from switch to T8, and usb from T8 to RD160 Dac.
Compared to my last RS130 with RD160, I don’t hear degradation from T8 to RD160. Even I hear better SQ overall.

You are not fooling anyone Boris. You know that deep down you crave a TechDAS Airforce Zero turntable with a tungsten platter and lord only knows which tonearm and cartridge.

Great. I replaced my Melco S100/2 switch with LHY AS8 Pro. I am using the Hauwei SFP modules. (See details from my previous post here: https://community.roseaudio.kr/t/i-am-using-sfp-modules-from-hauwei/9649)
They are not expensive and yield good result.

Goldmund Reference, excuse me!

Greetings everyone. I recently purchased a Rose RS 151 and am very pleased with it. Before purchasing it, I did some research and compared it with other cameras before deciding on the purchase. What I wanted to say is that all that glitters is not gold. I’m referring, for example, to the aforementioned Eversolo T8, which in my opinion is nothing exceptional and is at best worth its price. Furthermore, it already has quite a few problems, which we hope can be resolved soon.
Have a good day and enjoy the music.

Welcome to the forum, @Grammophone. You raise a good point. I too like my RS130, but here’s a quote from the Eversolo forum regarding the T8 (and Eversolo in general) that I think points out the real difference between them and HiFi Rose:

“After all while Eversolo still suffers from some degree of rough edges in its overal software, one should really applaud Eversolo for their dilligence in providing software updates to remediate them .... There are few hardware providers in this industry that listen to, involve and provide their users with regular updates as often as Eversolo does ... They even actively invite (more experienced) users to beat cycles and early-release programs ...”

@Tony22 Hi, I didn’t question Eversolo’s customer service, but I also didn’t say Rose’s was poor. For as many people as are dissatisfied with the product, there are just as many who are satisfied, and this applies to both Rose and Eversolo. A lot of times it depends on your expectations for a product. No one can be perfect, that’s for sure. There will always be pros and cons.

I understand your frustration, as I understand all those people like us audio enthusiasts (and it seems there are many), who had to take their A6 gen2 to the repair shop because at a certain point, it no longer turned on. (Defective power supplies, it seems). Unfortunately, this is reality and it can happen to anyone. PS: I don’t use Apple, so it wouldn’t be useful for me to have it in my device.

Hans Beekhuyzen has done a review of the Eversolo T8. The Eversolo T8 software which he demonstrates, is impressive. “Extremely versatile for equipment lovers”.

Nice review. Interesting it uses the AS318B crystals. Phase noise is about 20dB worse than the ones used in the RS130. Just an observation.

Also unfortunate that it seems it cannot accept supplied convolution files made from something like REW for more robust room correction.

It probably does. I used to do it on the A8 with REW.

@ROSEHAN @Tony22

Hi Tom, Just for better understanding. When people say they prefer Eversolo T8 over the HiFi Rose RS130. Is this because of:

  1. Better Sound Quality?
  2. Less User Interface bugs?
  3. More/Preferable User Interface features? ← if so, list the preferred features with brief summary.
  4. More intuitive User Interface? ← if so, please elaborate
5.Quicker resolution updates complete with Update log? if so, please elaborate how bugs are reported/managed
  5. Lastly, do you miss anything the RS130 provides? if so, please elaborate.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @joyofmvid

Thanks for the note. To me, my system sounds better with the T8 than my previous RS130.

Why? You’ve already named many advantages of T8 in your question. But sorry, I don’t feel obligated to explain them in details.

One more note, I used to be a HiFi Rose fan. But as the title of this post says: The Chinese are gaining on.

I know you were a HiFi Rose fan. I’ll PM you.

Joyofmvid,

First, I haven’t heard the T8 so I can’t comment about sound so #1 is out for me.

2 and 5 however, I’ve looked at fairly carefully. I know that Zidoo has a dedicated team of engineers who monitor their blog for any software suggestions and problems. They jump on those immediately. Rose doesn’t.

3 and 4 relate to user friendly and efficient coding. Rose is good at putting out stable software. It doesn’t crash. On the other hand, the release schedule is twenty times slower than Eversolo’s. Also, Rose’s programming is done as a programmer would do if he were just assigned one screen and had no idea what the rest of the program was doing or how his screen related to the rest of the program. That makes the decision tree an illogical mess. Eversolo software is cleanly designed with a music oriented user in mind. It flows logically from the point of view of a user who wants the fewest keystrokes to get where he wants to go.

Eversolo’s software is not as graphically impressive as Hi Fi Rose’s which gets an “A” in my book for visual impression. Eversolo’s screens are functional “plain Jane” but Eversolo’s software has many more options and capabilities than HiFi Rose.

HiFi Rose’s database expertise is not good. Even after last year’s improvement, Eversolo’s software runs rings around Hi Fi Rose in that area. For some reason HiFi Rose can’t design consistent searching, organizing and displaying tools for all its various databases. They are all over the place. We’ve been waiting literally years for the ability to directly identify albums and music, search, organize and replace, etc. the database contents. We’re still waiting.

Eversolo puts an emphasis on a user’s ability to modify screens to suit his preferences. You know that Rose has been extremely inflexible in that area.

All of the above said, I love my Rose equipment (I have four) and wouldn’t trade any one of them for an Eversolo T8.

Don’t let me be misunderstood. I am simply stating that in my home, with the same setup, I hear better sound from T8-to-RD160-to-RA180 than from RS130-to-RD160-to-RA180.

Our preferences, interconnects, accessories, environments, room acoustics, etc. are all different. Keep your Rose equipment as long as you like. Good for you.

By the way, T8 has two other features I like a lot besides EQ and room correction :

The first is called “Screen.” It can generate a screen on the mobile app that looks exactly like the T8 device—what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG). I can perform ALL the functions on my iPad just as I would on the physical T8 screen. It’s simple and intuitive. On the contrary, many functions of the RS130 are only operable on the device.

Screen-Tidal_01

Second, when streaming Tidal music, I can switch between different resolutions on the fly.

Screen-Tidal_03_resize

I only have Tidal. I don’t know if the T8 provides similar features to Qobuz and/or other streaming services or not.
