Tidal Connect Support?

@BorisM we will agree to disagree. Tidal Connect is table stakes. And BlueOS has gone HD - with them buying MQA, etc.

HiFi Rose is a beautiful system. I absolutely LOVE how they do HD video (which I use a lot). This is just an annoying niggle of epic proportions.

As for letting the babysitter blow out my speakers, well past those days. The only one who is going to blow out the speakers is me … and the good thing is that they are Amati G5s. They will blow out my ear drums before they blow out

EverSolo has a phone screen, and runs regular phone apps. They didn’t even need to write anything too special. If you are happy with EverSolo’s screen size, just use Tidal’s phone software on it, Connect and everything. Not like anyone could hear any difference anyway.

If you want to use Rose, with its rather uncommon screen ratio and custom app infrastructure, then you have to wait for Connect support to be developed, including jumping through whatever hoops Tidal wants them to jump through.

Should there be Tidal Connect support? Probably, seems to be something enough people want, especially when they have no ethical objections to supporting highly unpleasant personalities behind the service. Is it so easy to do that it should just appear when you snap your fingers? No.

has anyon tried running a WIIM, BS Node or any other streamer digitally into the Rose? I am thinking of overcomming the lack of Tidal connect/weak Rose App this way…
Any consioderations about potential sound loss because of just using another Streamer?
I intend to use Rose’s DAC still.

This is the option only if you use HiFI rose internal DAC. You can connect Wiim opticaly or via coax S/PDIF connection. Maybe even via USB. I have both, HiFi Rose 250A and Wiim Ultra, but they are both connected to RME DAC. Works perfectly, Wiim has Deezer support (which uses my wife), Rose has Youtube and video out. I rarely use Tidal connect, but it comes handy sometimes, so I use Tidal mostly over Rose. Rose has much better radio support than Wiim. Both devices have some cons and pros and they supplement each other really good.

I would love to buy the RS130 but not without Tidal Connect. My systems are streaming Tidal only. I like Tidal connect enough to pass on the 130. I’ll give it a few months but if no connect by spring, I’m gonna buy the Eversolo dmp a10.

Hello Hi-Fi Rose users

We are planning to support Tidal Connect anytime soon.
However, to support Tidal Connect, we must be provided with the Tidal Connect SDK compatible with Rose’s platform (OS).
Currently, Tidal Connect SDK has not been created for the platform (OS) we are using.
In this regard, a request has been made to Tidal, and if an SDK that can be used in the environment used by Rose is provided in the future, we will support it.

Thank you

Has Tidal given you any feedback? As in are they likely to provide one? Or not? If the former, what timeline?

RoseOS is your proprietary OS… of course Tidal will not provide and maintain an SDK just for you.
Perhaps if you upgrade your os to be compatible with an android version they have an SDK for – this will get us Tidal connect working with Rose products.
My understanding is RoseOS is android based, so it’s a matter of updating it.
Does it make sense ?
Also, I haven’t seen any new update for quite some time… (Rose 150). I still hope you can provide room correction such as Eversolo DMP A10 provide.

This has been hashed out many times. RoseOS is Android, and the current version is just fine for running Tidal Connect. Except that Tidal does not provide an accessible generic SDK for it, you need to have Tidal give you one specifically for your company / device. And who knows what conditions they attach to it.

That the regular Tidal access works just fine on Rose (since that SDK is available) should have been a hint…

I’ll just jump in here.

I’ve recently become the owner of Roon and if you use it too, you won’t be asking about Tidal Connect anymore. I never wanted to have anything to do with paying for music and now I have Tidal, Qobuz and Roon. It’s a great combination with my RS520. I only use the Rose app to turn off my Rose device completely. But if you just leave your Rose on standby, you don’t even need the Rose app anymore, you can also use Roon, like many other things that would go beyond the scope of this post. Everything is great in Roon, whether in the Roon Tidal or Qobuz app.

here in Germany I pay for all three services monthly currently

Roon - 12.25 (146.74 annually)

Tidal - 10.99€

Qobuz - 12.49€ (149.99€)

Total monthly 35.73€…that’s worth it to me. I’ve already “wasted” too much of my life editing music.

No, it was also fun to see my own cover images (i.e. my work) for special DJ mixes on the Rose Display.

I’m getting older now and just want to click on something and listen.:ear:t2:

You certainly do not need both Tidal and Qobuz. one should be enough. Once I tried roon I spent the money for lifetime. I look at it as piece of equipment added to the stack. 700 for lifetime, and cost of hardware…about 800 at the time. less than people pay for high end CD player. I have been upgrading and swapping streamers and DACs for a while now. Rose 130 on the way. PSAudio MKII DAC. Roon just makes the experience more enjoyable. Right now I have zero plans on using Rose software unless to configure unit. Same as I did for Eversolo its replacing.

Yes, I have a few albums that aren’t available on Qobuz. If I see them in different versions in Roon, I’ll part with them, I don’t know who I should get rid of.

Is Qobuz better integrated into Roon than Tidal???

I put a track from the same album (Tidal, Qobuz) in the queue and compared them.

I imagine that Qubus sounds a bit better on the 520. But as I said, “imaginary”

At my age, I can’t hear it anymore anyway.

I’m also in the Roon chat and of course many people swear by one provider and the next party by the other provider. That’s why I pay 10.99 a month and they don’t cause me any pain :moneybag:.

I have my Roon core on a Macbook Pro M3Pro with a LAN cable to my router. My music SSD is also connected to the Macbook. I don’t care if you should only have a separate computer for Roon core. The M3 has 12 cores and I have 32 GB of RAM and I don’t do much with a Macbook. I spent zero money on Roon computers and to me it sounds great what Ronn delivers to my RS520.

No it is not. Same. If I see something I want that is not on qobuz, I buy the album. Saves me tidal costs.

That is certainly the easier way out of the gate to Roon. I just did not want a dedicated PC I have to keep up to date to run Roon. NUC updates itself and I dont every have issues (knock on wood).

You’re right, but I still have the €11 (at the moment). I’ll eat out at the restaurant one less time and have 5 months of Tidal.

Have a nice evening

Of course it’s nice to have a separate PC for Roon. But since I have my MacBook on anyway, for example to write here, it costs me a smile to look at the Roon info to see if there is an update. I think I updated yesterday.

My M3Pro falls asleep when using Roon. For me it’s all just a way to make money with the separate PCs for Roon.

I do have exactly the same, Roon, Tidal and Qobuz and I fully agree!

They do have a different collection, so this is not necessarily correct.

Macs aren’t designed for performing any actual work  but there are some utilities one could use to keep it awake.

I hope you don’t mean me, after the very short night.

No, just kidding.

My Macbook is always plugged in and monitored by Al Dente Pro. My battery floats from 50% to 40% and then it is charged back up to 50%. That is the natural discharge of batteries. If you don’t use Li-Ion batteries (like me), it should be kept at around 50%, as it is during long-term storage. You have fewer charging cycles (I only have 6) in a year of Macbook M3. Of course, it is also fully charged for calibration, there are schedules in the program that you can create or it can also be done automatically.

The Roon core is always on for me and I just close the app in the evening. To start with, I also closed the core, of course my folders in Roon were then inaccessible. Even that would not be a problem for me to search for the storage locations in Roon again. But I didn’t want that either. But Boris, you’re right, I can’t force sleep mode (apple symbol…sleep mode). I always want to protect my display and have settings…lock screen (when connected to the mains) set to one minute and my display goes off and Roon Core runs stably. That’s how I use Roon and I’m happy that I didn’t have to shell out over 2000 euros to the money freaks for a “PC” just for Roon. As I said, it’s my opinion and if someone thinks they’re going to buy a PC like that, they have to do it.

In comparison, I do it the same way as the people who use a Roon-capable server at home and the little I do with my Macbbok is irrelevant. Actually, I totally overdid it with the Macbbok (with the performance) but now I’m glad that I bought it back then. Just like my BMW! I really wanted the awesome inline six cylinder because they’re so awesome and smooth, but to be honest, I don’t need it.

:v:t2:

Running a server on a laptop is generally a good way to kill the battery. But mostly i have seen people complaining that the Mac goes to sleep when used as a server but not being interacted with…

Then I’m sorry to have to say: But then these people don’t understand their Apple machine.

Boris, and as I typed, my laptop is connected to the network 24/7 - 365 and even if I “should” use the MB with the battery, it works. I would just make sure that the battery doesn’t run out and the MacBook shuts down. Furthermore, it even runs stable with WiFi. I have a WiFi 6E MacBook and router. These tests were the first ones I did with Roon (stability checked) and then I took care of my 14-day trial subscription with music and organization.

But none of that really matters, because at some point Roon will also update and Roon will shut down briefly.

Well, I only have four of my own folders integrated into Roon and can update them quickly and I don’t mind dealing with it at all.

It is also true that the people who use something like this, who want to search for/listen to music with it, don’t delve too deeply into the subject matter.

Nobody needs that, but what they have to do is buy a $2000 Roon “PC” and I would have to get involved with the devil to do that.

You are also a Roon user on a server! You see, I am in favor of something like that. Two things at once: listening to Roon music and saving everything from company or private (whether pictures, projects for work, etc., etc., etc.)
