ZABOKS, what benefit do you hear from the RS720 to warrant the hassle of owning one.
I’m asking as someone who had one…couldnt get it to work and sent it back.
@Oleg77 Thanks also for confirming and sharing your settings : You are Number3 in my book now !
@paqua Like the other users, I’m willing to take advantage of this Hub to galvanically isolate my DAC from the streamer… Sorry that you were not lucky with yours !
I have a spring 3 kitsune DAC. I tried it via USB 2.0 out form the RS720. Tried various starting sequences of the DAC and streamer. Nothing. I tried switching the SFP units…you name it I tried it. Perhaps they fixed it. I dont believe it . I think you guys got lucky. I was hoping itd work though. I probably tested it over 2 days for about 8 or 9 hours trying everything
They did introduce a new firmware that supposedly addresses the very issue you were dealing with but once again I did not apply it so I don’t know if it fixes your specific issue or not. But worth a try if you decide to purchase the RSA720 once again. I am a bit supervised the lack of transparency from Hifi Rose on this and other technical issues. I think a significant increase in the forum participation would go over well with the group from Hifi Rose.
How would one go about updating the firmware on a RS720? It doesnt connect to the internet? From a PC?
see below from Rosehan
no sign of life since one month though…
What I dont get is they have vendors still selling this item. Car manufactures have recalls. Youd think they would have the vendor send them back then redistribute updated RS720s
Hi Guys : I’m happy to report here that I received yesterday a last batch RS720 (arrived last week from Korea at my distributor) and… it works fluently, with no need for a special power on procedure !
@paqua : you are damn right, a proactive manufacturer would recall all doubtful units, or at least communicate with their distributors, retailers, user community… BUT now that the problem seems to be solved, I encourage you to try again with a new unit…
Furthermore, sitting on top of my DAC (with a custom-made 15cm USB cable), no need for an expensive USB cable anymore !
So we might edit the title of this post with : RS720 USB DOES WORK AFTER ALL…
My only issue is, the retailer I buy from probably still has old units. How am i supposed to know if its a new batch version or not? Is there a serial number we need to know and after that are the new models? Or is HiFi Rose still selling old models too? How do I know for sure its the new version?
@paqua IBefore buying, I have asked my dealer WHEN he received it from Korea, assuming it would be the last batch ! If your dealer doesn’t know when he received his products, I recommend to test it at your dealer’s place to be safe…
Well im buying it online from a dealer that is nowhere near where I live. Hifi Rose stuff isnt a normal stereo brand. Ive only found 1 online retailer so far. The Music Room is the site
Where do you live ? Most online dealers allow to return the unit is the test in home is not successful, but better check this before ordering, of course !
I live in washington state. I contacted this dealer and told them the story …they are checking on the units they have. Does yours have a manufacture date on it?
YES, but it won’t help really : 2023-8 ! I guess mine has been updated at the factory before shipping, so their US distributor (still MOFI ?) should be able to check the firmware revision…
I wish you can succeed convincing them that it is in their own interest, because RS130+RS720 becomes a hell of a combo, connecting to a DAC !!! Could improve their BRAND image as well…
What website ot company are you buying from MoFi? Thats not a thing here in the USA?
After I borrowed his demo unit for a week-end, I bought a new one from a subdealer here in France, not from a website, but there is also a website here in Europe (audiophonics) allowing 30 days home trial…
I was referringto MOFI since they are (supposed to be) the US distributor for ROSE… If your local dealer is not able to provide an answer to you, I suggest you call MOFI to find out : they might be able to lend you a demo unit as well if your dealer is not able to do it (?). Good luck then !
Necroing this thread. Its May3rd just received a new unit RS720 took over 6 weeks to get because the manufacture was back logged. Just plugged it all in. DOESNT WORK FOR SHIT. Same issue…doesnt recognize the DAC, No matter what sequence I start up. Nothing. I will RMA this piece of shit tech tomorrow and send them this thread as proof of a shitty product.
Si Sorry to hear that… What is the manufacturing date on the little sticker ?
2023.8 so ya its probably an old one
