Benefits of RS130 User Interface Software

Please NO COMPLAINTS / NO BUG REPORTs on this topic thread!
And no Trolling!

  • Specify a beneficial feature or sub-feature even if it currently has bugs (assume the bugs have been fixed)
  • Do not include a feature you desire to be functionally upgraded

IMO, key RS130 User Interface benefits are:

  • Rose Radio

    • over 55,000 radio stations & over 200 countries ← see Radio Server at https://www.radio-browser.info/
    • user can select favorite radio stations
    • user can add any internet accessible radio station URL address (add the URL for the radio station’s playback web-page; not for the radio station’s home page)
  • RoseTube

    • Ad Free
    • Search Outcome: lists music & music videos first (search list is different than YouTube)

joyofmvid,

I love Shazam! which is in the radio station app. I enjoy seeing each album cover when a song is played on Rose radio. The ability with one click to then search all of Rose’s music sources (Qobuz, Tidal, Apple) for the album which contains the song is a treat. It is a treasure to find new music I enjoy.

I like that the artist and song are shown when listening to internet radio. My other streamer does not.
I like that the queue is always accessible by pulling the queue menu tab over.
I like that the remote control page is always 1 click away and provides all those functions.
I like the input/output map that is shown on the input/output screen which allows the user to change on the fly.
I like the “Qobuz playlists on Rose” (and Tidal) which are playlists from other users which makes it easy to discover new music.

  1. Integration with roon / displaying of tracks played from roon
  2. Being able to switch between outputs easily via UI is nice - overall management of IO vs. other hardware requiring button presses and complex manuals.
  3. Clocks and VU Meters - Beauty of display in general

I definitely like the size & quality of the Front Panel ← also nice to have an easy to learn full User Interface on the Front Panel.

For me, the Front Panel is a Wow Factor!

  • You can select what happens when you tap a song in RS130 (empty the queue and play now, add to end of queue, play next, etc.)

    • this is especially nice when friends are over and everyone can put songs they wish to hear in the queue
  • Also like the queue being always accessible immediately on the right of the screen

I like RadioFM especially its Vintage Radio front panel “user interactive” display. See video at https://youtu.be/k6XQrbt0WVM?si=5lDD9vyTSW2NK98

RadioFM permits the user to request radio stations based on “country”.

  • Rosetube is very enjoyable for me and one of the best things about my RS130. There is a huge selection of music videos (and other stuff), just browse or search. And the sound quality is pretty good.

  • Besides the very enjoyable (indeed !) Rosetube, the big Artwork on TV is also enjoyable !

Just a thumps up on how good this RoseTube is, the sound is very impressive better then I was hoping for…

@chrisjames also said the following at Radio Paradise a real gem

Using my ipad with a link to Radio Paradise it was able to throw the link to the Rose streamer giving me flac quality radio, to get this quality sound from a tuner would have cost a fair bit in years past.

The good thing about radio is that it exposes you to new artists and types of music.

@Manny said the following at Queue Function - integrated playlists from each Music Service - #4 by Manny

I bought the 150b for music, but I found it a great YouTube viewing device as well. I can queue up all of my videos from my YouTube channel subscriptions. I have no other devices that allows this so easily.

The HiFi Rose app integrates streaming services well. … I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the HiFi Rose stock app showed what was playing in Roon and I could even use the supplied remote control to operate (next song, previous song, play/pause, etc.)

Ever the sucker for Audio Bling; I bought the RS130. It is a beautiful object. It is the Rosetta Stone of Streamers. The screen is beautiful and bigger than anybody else’s. Size matters. Don’t let anybody tell you differently.

On the other hand it would help to be a full fledged programmer to use it. The software is a work in progress. Most of it is great and so far as I can tell, it’s way more sophisticated than the other Streamers/Transports out there. Nevertheless with a panoply of features comes difficulty in setup/operation.

The Rose software people are constantly improving it and have come a long way.

@Ben said the following at About New 'Media Library' (DB scan) - #27 by Ben

The search is rather fast once the DB is finished reading tracks/tags.
I also very much like the “recommendations” feature which brings me to long forgotten music, albums and artists.
